Leader of BTEC Sport and Teacher of Games Part time, c. 0.75 FTE
Ratcliffe College is an outstanding Independent Day and Boarding School for 850 students. Set in approximately 200 acres of beautiful Leicestershire countryside this Roman Catholic School is steeped in history, with a real family friendly culture. The College has consistently performed in the top 5% of schools for value added data at A Level and GCSE.
An enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher is required to join our successful Physical Education Department to teach BTEC Sport and Games. The primary focus of the position is to teach Pearson BTEC Level 1 and 2 First Award to our King Power Football Scholars. These students are sponsored to attend Ratcliffe College by King Power and as well as their BTEC studies train as a squad of players at Leicester City Football Club on a daily basis. The Scholars entered the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA) U18 Super League, for the first time this year, and have so far progressed to the last 16, we have realistic expectations that they will be contenders for this prestigious trophy on a regular basis.
The successful candidate would be responsible for the teaching and the administration of the BTEC Sport qualification. The students are also supported by a classroom assistant in almost all of their lessons and the class sizes are small (average size 10).
We are looking for a graduate, with a strong background in delivering BTEC or related qualifications as well as sporting credentials, who will be fully committed to the work of the department and will contribute positively to its development. In addition, the appointed teacher should be able to coach at least one of our major sports, Hockey, Netball, Tennis, Rugby, and Cricket. The candidate will be expected to take midweek and/or Saturday fixtures throughout the academic year.
The position provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or a newly qualified teacher, a current PGCE student or someone looking for a career change to gain further experience working alongside a professional football establishment.
