The purpose of this post is to maintain and manage the heating and hot water systems for the Brighton College estate. The roles covers both domestic installations and larger building gas installations for the academic buildings, boarding houses and other facilities

Duties include:

• Working closely with the Head of Facilities to provide proactive and efficient operation of heating, hot water and other water services at the college and its broader estate

• To provide first response to heating and hot water issues at the college and undertake repairs as necessary

• To oversee and manage the servicing and maintenance of pressurised equipment that is undertaken by specialist contractors

• Developing and implementing the heating maintenance and service programmes for term time, college holidays and in particular the Summer Holiday shutdown

• Working closely with the Project Team to coordinate essential maintenance and refurbishment works with major construction projects

• Manage and improve the controls for the various heating and hot water systems

• Develop an improvement plan for energy efficiency

• To ensure that operational stock levels are maintained

• Issuing and controlling all appropriate legal paperwork (e.g. certificates of testing, etc.)

• To assist with other works as required (particularly plumbing jobs) in support of the Facilities Service

• An acting member of the on-call rota on successful completion of a three-month probation period
