Teacher of Computing / Media

Permanent Full Time

Main/Upper Pay Scale

Preferably looking to start 20th April 2020 or from 1st September 2020 (NQTs)

The Chase is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to teach Computing throughout KS3, KS4 and possibly KS5, subject to aptitude.

We are looking for a creative, well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher with experience of and interest in developing teaching and learning across a range of subjects within the Faculty. We would in particular welcome applications from anyone with strengths in Computer Science or Media as there may be opportunities for KS5 teaching in these areas.

The Chase has been instrumental in the development of the Computing community in the West Midlands, and was recently awarded official Computing Hub status by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE), in order to provide support for primary and secondary computing teachers in schools in the area.

As part of the NCCE Computing Hub network across England it is a focal point for local computing training for schools, and also has excellent links with industry and universities. This would be an excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to develop their skills in the Computer Science area of the curriculum, or who wanted to support the work of The Hub. It would be excellent preparation for anyone seeking promotion.

You will be joining a very successful and supportive team. Both KS4 and KS5 examination results are significantly above national expectations in terms of both progress and attainment. Computer Science is a very popular subject at GCSE.

The school serves a highly educated and economically stable community, A Level and GCSE results are amongst the highest in the region.  The expectation is that each student who attends the school wishes to progress to university or quality apprenticeship training. Our students are aspirational, resilient and mature.

The school expects a high level of professional excellence from its teachers and we aim to ensure that all teaching within the school is at least always ‘Good’ and showing aspects of ‘Outstanding’. Excellence within the classroom is sustained through collegial challenge and collegial support, with the sharing of practice expected of all.

An application pack is also available on the vacancies section of the school website.

Closing date for applications: Monday 24th February 2020 at 11:00 am

Interview date: 27th February /28th February TBC.
